Grand Hotel Europe is one of the first five-star hotels in St. Petersburg. The hotel building was built according to the design of Carlo Rossi at the beginning of the 19th century. Here Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and his wife spent their honeymoon, Rasputin dined, George Bernard Shaw met with Maxim Gorky, Dmitry Shostakovich played sonatas for Sergei Prokofiev. The hotel is located in the very center of the city on the Neva, next to the Russian Museum and not far from the Hermitage.
